Role: Machine Learning Software Engineer
Over the past three years we’ve built a specialist team who know what it takes to deploy clinical tools in practice - engineers, clinicians, translational researchers and more. In that time, we’ve also made major advances in healthcare AI research: detecting eye disease more quickly and accurately than experts; planning cancer radiotherapy treatment in seconds rather than hours; and working to detect patient deterioration from electronic records.
Our vision is for Streams to now become an AI-powered assistant for nurses and doctors everywhere - combining the best algorithms with intuitive design, all backed up by rigorous evidence. Within the Health Research team at Streams, we are committed to take our models through clinical studies that evidence their benefit in the real world and ultimately to bring our work safely into clinical practice. Our flagship mobile application, Streams, is already used in hospitals where it’s helping clinicians provide care to their patients now, while also laying the framework to apply our AI research in future.
As an engineer in the Health Research team in Streams you will be working on some of the biggest problems in medicine. You will collaborate closely with a team of researchers, clinician scientists and world-class medical experts to develop novel algorithms and take them into production, enabling machine learning to benefit patients in the real world.
- Design, implement and deliver complex pieces of research and infrastructure as part of a multi-functional clinical engineering team
- Implement and evaluate cutting-edge machine learning algorithms over healthcare data.
- Manipulate and evaluate large and complex medical datasets
- Work with a variety of stakeholders, including regulatory advisors, clinicians, research scientists and research engineers
- Report and present software developments including status and results clearly and efficiently both internally and externally, verbally and in writing
- Liaise and collaborate with both internal and external research scientists.
We’re looking for strong engineers from multiple disciplines to help us fulfil this mission: those with a solid foundation in applied machine learning, capable of furthering our healthcare research, as well as skilled systems engineers with a proven history of delivering high-quality infrastructure at Google scale, both to supercharge our research efforts and build software for daily use at world-leading medical centres.
