DeepMind’s Applied Group focuses on using the best available technologies, together with our own research, to address some of the world’s most pressing and complex challenges. You’ll join a small and rapidly-growing team within DeepMind Mountain View that is part of a larger, cross-functional, Google-wide effort to create the next generation planet scale ML platform for all of Alphabet. Specifically, this team will focus on the ML/AI research and experimentation workflows and contribute to developing the entire stack from the user entry point all the way down to the hardware.

You will work cross-functionally with multiple Platforms and Infrastructure teams at Google to help create the ML infrastructure stack for the AI first future of Google. You will collaborate with researchers across DeepMind, Google Brain and rest of Alphabet to understand their use cases and add new capabilities to the platform. You will also help onboard various research and product teams to the new platform.
We highly value generalist software engineers who are willing to help out with whatever moves our projects forward. Strong technical documentation and communication skills are required. You should have excellent design and implementation skills as well as a keen analytical mindset. You should have a deep curiosity about AI and ML (no prior experience required). At least two years of professional experience working on infrastructure technologies, multi-threading and distributed computing is required. Fluency in C++ is preferred.
Senior candidates should have experience with designing generic, scalable libraries and services as well as a track record of designing and launching large scale cross-functional projects.
