The team behind Streams - our secure mobile app for clinicians - is joining Google.

In November 2017, we were delighted to announce that we had entered a five-year partnership with Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, based in Somerset, to bring the latest Streams technology to patient care.

Over the course of our partnership, clinicians will be able to use Streams to view their patient’s vital signs, like blood pressure and heart rate. In addition, clinicians will be able to enter that information directly into the app right at the bedside, making vital observations instantly available for other Streams users involved in that patient’s care.

In time, the Streams app will also support nurses and doctors by providing them with a breaking news-style alert when one of their patient’s test results suggests that they may be falling seriously ill, and by enabling them to view their patient’s test results on a mobile device anywhere in the hospital without having to log on to a computer.

We have not received or started processing patient information for the Trust. Before we do so, Yeovil will be conducting a programme of events, displays and communications to ensure that patients and the public can find our how Streams and the partnership will improve the way the Trust cares for patients.

For more information about how we’ll protect patient data, please head to our page about data and security.
